The goal of “Rose Enigma” is to educate the Copyright Office in the US about different ways A.I. can be used. As they made it clear thanks to my previous work “Zarya of the Dawn” that text prompts aren’t enough to copyright the work, I took another step adding more human input. I used my drawing and showed control over the output (using parameters and a predefined seed). My pro bono lawyers helped me (from the law perspective) to write the cover letter to the Copyright Office explaining how it was done. We’re still waiting for their response. You can read the letter describing our process and our reasoning why this work has enough human input to receive copyright. Read the letter here.

“Rose Enigma” was exhibited in an open air exhibition under the bridge in Brooklyn, New York in April 2023
